Biofil 20

WSP

Description of biofil 20

A fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agent that are gaining widespread acceptance in veterinary medicine because of their broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobes, mycoplasma, Rickettsia as well as against bacteria resistant to other drugs.

Mechanism of action of Biofil 20:

  • Exerts their effects by binding to and inhibiting bacterial DNA-gyrase. This enzyme is important for supercoiling of cellular DNA which is needed for bacterial DNA synthesis.
  • Inhibit DNA synthesis by promoting cleavage of bacterial DNA in the DNA-enzyme complexes of DNA gyrase and type IV topoisomerase, resulting in rapid bacterial death.

Efficacy of Biofil 20:

  • Has great action against most Gram-negative bacteria (Enterobacter, Klebsiella, Proteus, Salmonella & Escherichia coli).
  • Recommended for treatment of Gram-positive bacteria (staphylococci & streptococci).
  • The drug is highly recommended for pneumonia, CCRD infection & colibacillosis.
  • Indicated for treatment bacterial eye infections, respiratory tract infection, cellulitis & urinary tract infections.
  • The drug does not exert any detrimental effects on the immune system.

Pharmacokinetic properties:

  • Good oral bioavailability as reach to 110.01%, little biotransformation in liver, elimination mainly by renal excretion, low plasma protein binding and high volume of distribution.
  • It was found to be more rapidly absorbed, widely distributed and more quickly eliminated than other fluoroquinolones in broilers.
  • Maximal plasma concentration of 3.65 lg/mL was achieved at 1.25 h after oral administration.

Dosage & administration:

  • 50 gm/ Ton.B. Wt. in drinking water for 3-5 days.
